About This Quote

Technology has transformed the world into a global village. And communities, families, friends, etc., into local islands. The internet, cell phone cameras and social media have changed human interaction from a large scale politics to a personal one. One of the most significant effects of technology is that it has allowed for an increase in community interaction.

In the past, people had to be physically present for social interaction. Today, we can get together virtually. This is a great thing because it allows more opportunities to interact with loved ones.

People talk about “the fishbowl” effect in which everything we do is being recorded and shared on social media. While this may be a negative thing for some people, it can also be a positive thing for some people. Instead of being a fish caught in a bowl of water that only sees the outside world from the glass walls of their office or home, people can see what others are doing on life outside of their glass walls.

Social media makes it easier to connect with loved ones and communicate with them without having to physically be around them.
